1928 Map of Expansion

What caught my attention from Fedde’s reading was the 1928 map of extention from the Department of Public Works. The AUP: General Expansion Pack and its successive plan in 1934 is what interests me the most because it demonstrates the ideological and practical differences that were implemented when designing the expansion of the city. Before 1928, during the rule of the Social Democrats, the plan was to develop towards a spacial policy and to implement the expansion plans. I am curious to learn more about what were some of the signifncant differences and impacts that the people of Amsterdam experienced during the Great Depression and World War II which altered the previous city deisgn.
